Focus of Development:

To position itself as a world-class petrochemical base, a state-level electronic information industry production base, a major agricultural products production and supply base in the Pearl River Delta (PRD), a vacation base for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao tourism, a modern logistics distribution centre and a green, modern and scenic city.

 

Overview:

Huizhou is located in south-eastern Guangdong, bordering Shenzhen, the eastern end of the PRD, and the north of Daya Bay in South China Sea. It is a city in Guangdong recognized provincially for its history and culture, well known for its Lingnan culture and referred to as a gateway of eastern Guangdong.

Targeting the world’s technology forefront, Huizhou is promoting an initiative of combining the innovation of Shenzhen and Hong Kong with Huizhou’s smart manufacturing in order to establish Huizhou as a hub of technology achievement commercialization in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Meanwhile, it has proposed to fully assimilate itself to Shenzhen’s “go east” strategy, as well as to actively connect to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Technological Innovation Corridor, establish the Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou “3+2” Economic Circle, and strengthen the complementary cooperation with Dongguan, Shanwei and Heyuan.

Secondary industry is the biggest contributor to Huizhou’s economy, with petrochemicals and electronic information being the two pillar industries of the city. Huizhou is committed to becoming a major high-energy green battery manufacturing base in the world, and a primary clean energy production centre of Guangdong. In recent years, projects of clean energy industries, such as solar photovoltaics, offshore wind power and nuclear power have been progressing rapidly.

As regards the service sector, Huizhou is promoting the development of port logistics and aviation logistics sectors while establishing itself as a logistics hub reaching eastern Guangdong, southern Jiangxi and western Fujian. Huizhou is currently striving to developing three major tourism clusters – the Renping Peninsula Tourism Economic Zone, Huizhou Urban Tourism Central Area and Mount Luofu-Mount Nankun Tourism Economic Cooperation Zone, and strengthen the development of competitive tourism services, including coastal, hot spring health and rural tours. The city also devotes full effort to strengthening the regional financial cooperation with Hong Kong and Shenzhen, undertaking financial services such as financial outsourcing, financial backup and financial technology from financial institutions in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
